I'm trying to locate an article written in Saveur Magazine, a past issue, regarding either, the first Mexican cooking teacher, or one who opened a cooking school in mexico..the person who this was referring to was Josefina Zalqazuez de Leon, the article also mentioned her Uncle...could have been published a couple of years ago...can anyone help me.

I look forward to my Saveur e-mails but I just had a surreal experience. I clicked on "Easy Mole" (an oxymoron) because I LOOVE real Mole and have misplaced my favorite recipe for it.

I clicked - and got linked to a REDBOOK recipe? I know that must be a mistake because I subscribe to SAVEUR - a highly polished collection of recipes with a world flair. Not REDBOOK and the hapless exploits of women trying to figure out 47 uses for a twist tie and who think cooking means opening can after can and bag after bag.

I do NOT expect to be sent to a REDBOOK recipe by an e-mail that originates from Saveur. I expected to see something a whole lot more exotic than that.

Does this type of thing disappoint anyone else??? I'm a charter subscriber to Saveur but I'm starting to have my doubts.

Has the saved recipe policy changed? I had quite a list of favorites saved. Now they have disappeared. Very disappointing.

I'm not sure what Saveur editors were thinking publishing that story in the memories column of the Oct issue.

It was thoroughly depressing.


It makes me want to write my own wonderful Halloween memories article for next years edition. About the Halloween birthday parties I did for my daughter growing up complete with homemade pumpkin ice cream and cupcake decorating for the kids, scary stories by the fire and trick or treating.

I've been a dedicated subscriber to Saveur since its first issue. It's my favorite source of monthly food porn. While I have no wanderlust to speak of, I've always enjoyed the far and away exotic cuisine, photos, articles and education offered by past issues of Saveur. I've been spurned to locate vendor after vendor of ingredients from Thailand, Spain, etc. because I am anxious to try an ethnic recipe from Saveur's pages.

I have noticed in recent years there has been a slant toward regional-US-Based issues, i.e. The Texas Issue. While I find ginormous steaks absolutely riveting, it's familiar territory. I depend on Saveur to show me things that are thrillingly unfamiliar - to stretch my culinary muscle past my own beloved US borders.

Is there any plan to return to this international subject matter?
