I'll be travelling next month through Switzerland and part of Germany. Specifically, I'll be in Geneva, Bern, Luzern & Zurich in Switzerland and Munich & surrounding areas in Germany. I'm expecting to eat tons of chocolate and cheese and drink lots of beer and wine. Can't beat that. Does anyone have any particular restaurants or food recommendations for this region? Thanks!

Hi,

My husband hails from Baselland, the northwest area of Switzerland. When you travel in Bern and Zurich, you'll be in the Swiss german part but Luzern and Geneva are in the french part. Try Swiss wine from the Valais area. Eat cheese fondue and raclette, the 2 national dishes. Rosti is good as is kase schnitten. For coffee time, try fruit wahe, especially rhubarb. Coffee is good in switzerland, we drink schale, 1/2 milk and 1/2 coffee. Also, schnip-po, weiner schnitzel and pomme frites is good.
One of my favorite desserts is creme schnitte, a napolean. If you need something quick, eat at the supermarket Migros, it's good! For carry-out, get some of the brotli's, the breads covered with things like salmon or asperagus from the deli case. Try the bakeries!
Hope the helps,
Stephenie
