I don't know why I'm asking, because I already know this one: Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa, AL. There are other "Dreamlands", but only the original has my vote.
This iconic dive is a shrine to Bear Bryant and a tribute to great sauce. Service "with attitude" is to be expected. Which explains the sign: "no beans, no slaw, no rice, don't ask!" They will hand you a stack of Wonderbread...

Honorable Mention: Rendezvous in Memphis is great if you like a dry rub.

This is a tough one, but mine is Circle M Bbq in Liberty, SC

Well, Dreamlands (original) is good, but I'd have to say that Greenbrier in Huntsville, AL would be my pick.

Hey-

I just moved to the south, and ever since I've lived here, I've been looking for a good BBQ joint within driving distance of Orlando, FL. Anyone know any respectable establishments within 50 miles?

Unfortunately...no. There is no real BBQ in the area...I make my Mom bring me BBQ when she visits from Alabama.

Bubbalous would be the closest IMHO...it is pulled BBQ, not sliced (sliced BBQ??? I had NEVER seen that until I moved to FL) and smoked like real BBQ. There was also a place over on the East side of Orlando near University and Goldenrod that was decent but I can't remember the name...it may not even be there anymore.

Maybe Mom will bring a pound for you too...:)

Pearsons in Williamsburg, VA and Leonards in Memphis. Rendevous is good, but is now really "touristy." Leonards has been in the same place for 85 years and has a fully restored 54 dodge panel truck in the lobby. Was just there on Saturday for the first time in 30 years when I used to live in Memphis.

Peasons is worth the drive from Richmond. Really good q

I am a fan of Old South in Selma Al. The chef/pit master/owner's name is "Sugar Foot" (no joke), the ribs and pulled pork are great, the sauce is out of this world.

Mr.B's in White Post Va, should also be mentioned. The ribs and the chicken here are very good.

Both places are cynder block shacks, right onthe highway, nothing fancy, but if you are in the aera booth are worth the visit.
